The photograph was taken by astronaut Thomas Pesquet of the European Space Agency, who will assist the spacewalkers on Friday from inside the station. App users can tune in here.

Jack Fischer received a degree in astronautical engineering at the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1996 and was one of two astronauts to conduct the 200th spacewalk for the ISS. Whitson has performed more spacewalks than any other woman.

"This was not a leak in Fischer's suit", NASA said, adding "The sharing of the SCU resulted in additional draw in battery power from the suits during preparations while in the Equipment Lock, reducing the battery power available for use during the spacewalk". "I don't think I can smile any bigger-well, maybe I will on Friday!"

"This is incredible, to be able to do the 200th EVA [extra-vehicular activity] on board the space station", Whitson said as the spacewalk came to an end.

Whitson, designated EV-1, will wear a spacesuit with red stripes, and carries a helmetcam designated No. 18. Fischer shared one of his more interesting efforts on Twitter Thursday, delivering a photo of an island that looks like it's cosplaying as fictional space alien E.T.'s famous glowing finger.

U.S. to expand its role against Taliban in Afghanistan
This would also get rid of former President Barack Obama's restrictions that limited the US military advisers on the battlefield. The Post , which first reported the development late Monday, said that President Trump has yet to approve of the plan.

"Managers in mission control made a decision to shorten the spacewalk from the original six and a half hour plan, due to available battery power for the spacesuits", according to NASA.

The astronauts will focus on one key task, to replace what is known as the ExPRESS Carrier Avionics, or ExPCA, box.

The first spacewalk at the ISS was done December 7, 1988 by astronauts Jerry Ross and Jim Newman.

It was a milestone moment, nonetheless: the 200th spacewalk in the construction and maintenance of the orbiting outpost.

When compared with the relative safety of living and working inside the Space Station, floating around in space with only a tether to keep you firmly attached to your home above Earth isn't exactly a super safe position. The Dragon supply ship is scheduled to arrive June 4. Yurchikhin and Fischer launched April 20 with an empty seat, part of a Russian effort to reduce costs.
