Apple iPhone 5s to be sold at Rs 15000 three years after release: Is it worth it?
Apple iPhone 7 has emerged as the worlds best-selling smartphone model in the first quarter of 2017, with an estimated shipment of 21.5 million units that captured six per cent market-share worldwide, a new report said.
The latest from Apple, iPhone 7 is ranked at number five in Delhi and Gujarat while OnePlus 3T is ranked fourth in Karnataka, said the data provided by Mobilytiks, a big data analytics programme in India for mobile handsets introduced by market research firm CyberMedia Research (CMR).
The CMR Mobilytiks Insights report overturns many perceptions about what makes a smartphone popular with buyers. During Apple's fiscal Q2 earnings call, CEO Tim Cook also acknowledged that the company had a hard time in keeping up with demand for the Plus version, notes CNBC. Another interesting thing to be noted is, the top premium phone, iPhone 5s will soon be made available in India for the cheapest price. Oppo has jumped into third place with the Oppo R9s, shipping 8.9 million units.
"Global smartphone shipments reached a robust 353.3 million units in first quarter of 2017". Rapidly expanding 4G infrastructure and low-priced 4G data services introduced by India telecom leader Reliance Jio have led to increased competition in India and stimulated higher demand for 4G-capable devices, reports Kantar.

As the world smartphone market has become saturated and innovation has slowed, vendors have increasingly looked to other means to promote sales and maintain profits.
Apple was able to increase its revenue in all the markets it operates in except for China. Though the company does not break down the sales of each product by region, it can be assumed that the drop in revenue is linked to iPhone sales. The iPhone 7 user-base is still on an upward trajectory, ending March at 3.6%, earning third place among iPhones.
