ABSOLVER COMBAT DETAILED IN NEW TRAILER,
Devolver Digital and developer Slocap have now set a release date for their online multiplayer combat RPG Absolver.
Over at the PlayStation Blog, Slocap's Pierre Tarno further discusses the game's combat. As prospects, players will explore the city of Rslan where they'll chisel off the rough edges of their skills and sedulously seek to become the best of the best.
The best part of this trailer is its treatment of the combat deck, which is terribly hard to explain with words. We've never seen or played a game quite like Absolver, and the gameplay experience it offers is wholly unique.
Absolver puts players behind the mask of a Prospect, who has taken a sacred vow and chosen to join the Absolvers, an elite corps of combatants fighting to maintain stability in the world.
Each has their advantages and disadvantages, like the Windfall can dodge easily, but the Kahlt can take a hit and sometimes regain health. Decks are built of "four stances", with different attacks available with each stance. You can mix and match your attack from four different stances relative to the position of your opponent, allowing for hard, light, back, counter, and aerial moves depending on how you're facing them.
"We had some taglines which we always referred to: "Combat is a dance", "Movement is your weapon", and "Make your Move". Combining all these elements, players can create their own fighting style. Along the way, new loot will drop and abilities will be learned to improve your style.
The trailer shown off today goes over the nitty-gritty of combat in Absolver, and the various martial arts styles you'll be able to choose from.
